REC POP UP DAY
A large sunshade, a pop-up store, a DJ stand and over 100 seats are built with a single re-used element. Low-tech circularity is still circularity.

REC.0 is a festival promoted by REC Experimental Stores. Twice a year, Barri del Rec a igualada, becomes a commercial and cultural space that brings together more than 70 brands of clothes and accessories occupy the old factories to offer their products accompanied by artistic installations , workshops, conferences and live music.

The project, sponsored by a beer brand, consists of the design and construction of POPUP DAY, the only ephemeral store with a new floor, which houses the most emerging and innovative brands and is located at the epicenter of the festival.

The proposal proposes turning the POPUP DAY into a multi-functional infrastructure that, in addition to the store, becomes a stage, an umbrella and the stage for DJs' performances

The use of beer crates for the construction of ephemeral structures is a fairly explored practice and the main challenge we faced was constructive innovation. The construction system of the pergola consists of a series of catenaries made up of 500 boxes suspended from slings and anchored to the facade of the existing building. This system is a proposal that emerged from the experimental workshop and that had never been tried before.
