Pause Space
A shadow by day, a beacon by night. An unprogrammed space, a place to pause, becomes a salient feature in the ebullient atmosphere of a music festival.

Pause Space is an installation designed and built by MEATS students for Monumental Club Festival in Barcelona. The challenge was to conceive an element that could work as a beacon and a meeting point while representing the brand identity of the sponsor, a bear company based in Granada which corporate image is based in arabesque jalis.
The second main challenge was logisitics: the installation had to be setup in 9 hours.
The projecte was conceptualized and developed taking these major constraints as design opportunities. MEATS team proposed a construction system using a metal mesh and 11.000 reused plastic glasses to create a light responsive jail, that would wrap a 6 meters tall steel structure with a hexagonal plan.
The result is a both a beacon and a contemplative space, where people laid on a soft ground made of carpets and pillows and observe the sky framed by the kaleidoscopic hexagonal tube.
