Llacuna
A new laser-generated datum contests urbanisation and harks back to a primeval, swampy landscape. Surprisingly, a mere problematisation of the ground offers endless playful avenues to explore new civic behaviours.

The physical space we occupy today was a marshy area, typical of areas close to river mouths, as is the case of the Besòs river. Place names such as Llacuna or Joncar, which remind this fact, become the origin of the conceptualization of our project.
Based on the criterion that we only work to give prominence to the possibilities that light alone gives us; the installation aims, paying tribute to the past, to feel again the mysteries of the Lagoon that today re-emerges from its surroundings. Between office skyscrapers, smart buildings and rehabilitated warehouses, we want the user to immerse himself in a light plane that separates an exterior - the neighbourhood - from an interior - the Lagoon. The final effect is to perceive the humidity and steaminess typical of the marshy atmosphere.
In this light installation the user is the active protagonist, who, from his immersion in the light plane, causes a movement that transforms the space sensorially. In this way, shadows are generated and the rest of the users are encouraged, on the one hand, to immerse themselves in this light plane and, on the other, to want to discover the atmosphere of the primordial Lagoon, the origins of Poble Nou.
Llacuna, made by the students of Escola Elisava de Barcelona, has been awarded the 2018 LLUM BCN Award.
