In 2014 he founded miba architects with Laia Isern, a platform devoted to architectural design and research. His work has been extensively awarded and published both nationally and internationally. He has taught in the Master’s program at IAAC (Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia) and Eina University School of Design and Art.

From his studio in Barcelona, espais per l’acció, he develops projects that stand out for the inextricable connection between space, time and narrative in their designs: stage design, art direction, facilities and exhibition design. He teaches architecture and design at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as workshops.

Since the mid-nineties they have been involved in development of the arts applied to the field of ephemeral space. With a background in the visual arts, theatre and architecture, they are characterised by their continuous research in the fields of space, light and objects. Their defiant attitude stems from their exploration of extremes in theatricality, basing their creations on the conciliatory nature between space and light.

Architect ( Architectural Association School of Architecture in London). He founded Appareil in Barcelona in 2011, an office developing architectural and research projects both in Spain and abroad. In parallel to practice, he currently teaches at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona and at the EPFL in Lausanne. He is the director of the AA Visiting School Barcelona and has ran the workshop “Crade et Vivant” with Michel Gondry at the IAAC. He has taught at the Architectural Association, and has been Associated Professor at the Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, from 2012 to 2015.

She has had her own professional office in Barcelona since 1993 and has been awarded for her work as a designer with the City of Barcelona Prize, the Maresme Triennial Architecture Prize and two FAD Awards for Ephemeral Spaces. David has served on the jury of numerous awards and has more than 350 projects published in specialized industry books. espluga+associates specialises in comprehensive branding projects, ranging from strategy, naming, visual identity and interior design to communication. Currently David Espluga also teaches for the Master’s Degree in Information Design at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) and the Master’s Degree in Packaging Design at ELISAVA.
